Elina Pyykönen, clarinet
Elina Pyykönen works as a clarinetist in the Joensuu city orchestra. She graduated with the master's degree in music from the Sibelius Academy in 2014, after studying mainly with Asko Heiskanen and Hermann Stefansson. Elina is a sought-after orchestra and chamber musician who has played in most Finnish orchestras in recent concert seasons. Teaching has gone hand in hand with her own playing for years, and she has taught both small and large clarinetists in different locations. Currently Elina works as a clarinet teacher in the Department of Music in Jyväskylä University. In addition to orchestral and teaching work Elina likes to play chamber music in different ensembles and genres, from classicism to tango nuevo. She is also a founding member of the concert series Korvat Soi!, which has been operating in Kainuu for more than ten years.
Elina’s free time interests include historical building heritage, permacultural gardening and moving in nature in forms of trail running and wilderness hikes.
