Pekka Kauppinen, violin

Violinist Pekka Kauppinen studied at the Sibelius Academy and the Copenhagen Conservatory with his teachers Seppo Tukiainen, Milan Vitek and Igor Bezrodnyi. He graduated from the Sibelius Academy in 1998 with a master's degree in music.
The victory in the Kuopio Violin Competition and the final place in the Sibelius Competition at the turn of the 90's were the starting shots for Kauppinen's diverse music career. He has played as a soloist in almost all Finnish orchestras and recorded the violin concertos of Tauno Marttinen and Uuno Klami with Lahti Sinfonia / Osmo Vänskä and Kymi Sinfonietta / Dima Slobodeniouk. He has played chamber music e.g. at the Lemi-Lappeenranta Music Festival and the Kuhmo Chamber Music.
Pekka Kauppinen has been the concertmaster of  City Orchestra for 30 years. For almost the same time he was the concertmaster of the Finnish Chamber Orchestra.
Kauppinen has been a part-time lecturer at the Sibelius Academy since 2012.
